The Five Worst Foods For Your Skin

The foods you consume can make or break your skin if you want healthy, glowy skin that looks younger than it should for your age. Avoid these five foods as much as possible, and your skin will be better off.

1. Fast food

We all know fast food has calories, fat, and sodium. But did you know that it can also wreak havoc on your skin? That's right, fast food grease, chemicals, and preservatives can cause breakouts, premature ageing, and even skin cancer. So if you're looking to keep your skin looking its best, you should steer clear of fast foods such as ‘’Chips’’ that are fried in a mixture of oils, including palm oil, soybean oil, corn oil, cottonseed oil, sunflower oil, and hydrogenated oils. They're high in trans fats, which lead to a higher risk of inflammatory acne by making the body produce more sebum. They also contain acrylamide which causes DNA damage and leads to premature ageing.

2. Excessive alcohol

Drinking alcohol in excess can dehydrate your skin and make it appear dull. Alcohol can also contribute to inflammation, leading to redness and breakouts. If you drink, low consumption is recommended and be sure to hydrate your skin afterwards. Mixed drinks are typically higher in sugar content than beer or wine, so consume them cautiously.

3. Some dairy products

Just as dairy products can cause acne, they can also cause other skin problems. Dairy products contain hormones that can trigger oil production, clogged pores and breakouts. Dairy products can also make your skin dry and irritated. So, avoid dairy products if you have sensitive skin.

4. Sugar

We all know that sugar is bad for our waistlines, but did you know that it's also one of the harmful foods for your skin? Sugar causes inflammation, which leads to premature ageing and wrinkles. It also enhances the growth of acne-causing bacteria and can worsen existing breakouts. So to keep your skin glowing, cut sugar out of your diet and increase your protein intake. Protein maintains skin firmness and elasticity. Eat a protein-dense diet or take protein supplements like LA Whey Gold protein shake which is triple filtered and made from pure whey and does not affect the skin in any bad ways like many other dairy products.

5. Fried foods

When you think of fried foods, the first thing that probably comes to mind is how greasy they are. And while that's not good for your health, it's also not good for your skin. Fried foods are one of the worst things you can eat if you want clear skin. They clog your pores and make breathing more difficult for your skin. In addition, fried foods cause inflammation, which can lead to breakouts.
